Aled Roberts has created a wide variety of work for independent filmmakers, student films and commercial spots. A multi-instrumentalist and multi-genre-ist, Aled is musically flexible and able to adapt his profound sense of tone, melody and harmony to any visual and emotional cue.
Aled recently scored the feature documentary Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective. The soundtrack was described as "effervescent" by Radical Discipleship, also saying "It effortlessly melds with the visuals." His score for Louis Gordon's short film, The Girl in the Chair, won the Original Score Craft Award at the 2015 First Run Film Festival. This year, Aled also participated in the ASCAP/Columbia Film Scoring Workshop. He was selected by director Marie Schlingmann to score her short film, Canary, and given 13 world-class studio musicians at MSR Studios to record the score. "Make Ends Meet," a song Aled co-wrote with singer-songwriter Kevin Garrett appears in the feature film Skating to New York. In December 2012, Aled created the music for director Patrick Biesemans' first self-released short Charles Bukowski’s Nirvana, which was included in Vimeo’s Staff Pick List.
Aled writes, records and produces music in his basement studio, using a Kimball baby grand piano, an unhealthy collection of instruments, samples and plugins, and a wide range of musical resources stemming from the relationships he has created in New York.
